Seaglass Clinical Consulting is offering a unique form of environmentally valid Child ADHD assessments using the gold standard ACE instrument.
As a parent or caregiver, the first step is an in-office meeting with Dr. Seb, our Psychiatrist, who will carry out a full medical history and diagnostic workup.
Next, the child will meet with Dr. Laura, our Clinical Psychologist, along with co-therapists, Kate Terceira or Eileen Thorne, the animal behavior experts. The session will be held outside, usually at Windreach or Seahorse Stables. The child will interact with the animals, carry out tasks and play in the paddocks while the therapists chat and gather interactive feedback from both child and caregivers.
This will be a full observation of the child using their mind and their physicality to explore and ask questions. This is a unique next step and it is a result of Dr. Laura’s wide experience of children with ADHD. Historically, with many young clients, behaviours only became fully apparent when the child was relaxed and free in an open space.
Meanwhile, we gather collateral from anyone else with useful information about the child’s presentation – teachers, tutors, counsellors, grandparents, family friends – whoever you nominate. Finally, we pull it all together in a comprehensive report, together with recommendations for behavioural management strategies and options for future therapy, if required.
