Puppy Play Therapy

Puppy play therapy is a wonderful resource for children who love animals: it has high engagement, is more intensive and therefore can be more effective than more traditional forms of talking therapy.

We are now able to travel with dogs (and sometimes a chicken!) to provide a mobile form of live, accelerated play therapy. We go directly to schools, liaising with teachers as to timing.

The kind of therapy is indicated if children are pre-verbal, non-verbal, have severe trust issues, are unable to manage an office setting or generally need more containment and behavioural management than talking therapy can provide.

We take children from 3 years, helping individuals and groups to:

  • Build relationships
  • Read social behaviour
  • Deal with anxiety and aggression
  • Process and symbolise feelings
  • Work collaboratively, instead of using dominance
  • Delight in a unconditional, non-judgemental relationship

The group is particularly beneficial for:

  • Children who might perceive and react to the world a little differently
  • Children who manage their feelings in ways that can cause difficulty for others
  • Children who find it easier to love and trust pets than people
